We love creating every single detail because we know it will bring joy to you and your guests. Our full-service company can plan your event from A-Z. We understand the stress of planning an event. So your only task is to sit back and be a guest at your own event, while we create and you celebrate. We are located in NYC but are available for travel worldwide.

About Us

House of Sky Event Planners specializes in creating once-in-a-lifetime event experiences. Our services are budget conscious, detail oriented and hassle free. Our goal is to design and create unique event; when you bring us a concept WE EXECUTE!

Our Story

 

Yvette Betances, born and raised in Brooklyn NY. She lived in Brooklyn up until her last year in High School. In 1995, her mother packed her and her siblings up and moved to the Bronx. Yvette’s very first job was at a telemarketing company. She went door to door trying to get people to sign up for an up and coming telephone company. After about two days, she realized that telemarketing was not for her. So, she looked for a new career. She worked customer service for a few years before she found a job as a waitress (this is were she met her husband). Meanwhile, she got married, had a baby, then returned to school and eventually earned her BA in Psychology and a Dual Masters in General and Special Education. This lead to her becoming a 4th grade teacher in the Bronx.

While working as a waitress, Yvette along with a friend was asked to help with a baby shower. At this time she “THOUGHT” she didn’t have a clue about decorating or planning an event. However, being young and spontaneous; her and her friend got creative and started coming up with ideas. While setting up, they were approached by other people about their services. That is when our event planner was born. 

Although event planning seemed to be working out, it still didn't fully resonate with her. She then dibbled in fashion designing and producing shows. She worked at a local radio station as a (so called) “manager”, and even did a little accounting. However, she would always find her way back to event planning. She started taking classes and became somewhat of an expert in balloon decor. People would call her to create ballon arches and columns for their events all over NY.

One day while setting up an arch for an event, an experienced full service event company approached Yvette and offered some tips. They even allowed her to intern with their company. Excited that someone on their level was willing to share their knowledge, she accepted. She worked with them for about a month before she realized it was a conflict of interest. They had opened her eyes to the potential she possessed. So, she stepped it up and went from balloon princess to full service decorator. A one women show!

After struggling for years, and taking gigs on her own. She decided to open an event space. As her master plan came together, her husband decided to join the team. Up until this point, he had never done anything but be the muscle and the support Yvette needed. Yvette didn't think he had a creative bone in his body (he fooled her). He really didn't show much interest, but the idea of having an event space changed that. 

The event space inspired Jason. He became fully involved and is now co-owner of House of Sky Event Planners. He is an essential part of the company. He is the set designer, and what his wife calls “The Drape King.” Over the last couple of years, Jason has created beautiful ceiling draping and backdrops. He has used his carpentry background to build furniture and props for events. Jason is the company’s photographer and videographer. He some how went from being the muscle, to becoming innovative and extremely creative. 

After OVER 20 years of being together, Jason and Yvette never thought this would be their path. However, they have come together and created a POWER HOUSE! They have a passion for planning and designing events. They get high off of taking peoples ideas and transforming them into dreams. Together these two can turn the ordinary into extraordinary!
